User roles explained

Here are the roles that you can assign to users:

Viewer role

Viewers are free in paid plans. A viewer has access to view the team's plans only. They cannot edit a plan, either using the plans list, or by making changes within plans.

When a viewer role opens a plan, they'll be able to see the progress that's been made, and access the main plan page, summary, timeline, and people page. But they won't be able to access individual tasks, make changes to people, change settings, or comment.

User role

A user is the standard role in Onthen. Users can't access manager features such as templates, and can't manage team settings. They may only access plans. But unlike viewers, a user can manage plans that they've been added to.

Note: A user role accessing a plan that they are not an owner or member of will view the plan with the same restrictions as a viewer. I.e. they can see the summary of it but can't be involved in it or manage it.

Manager role

A manager has full access, except for managing the subscription, or changing the team owner. Users who you want to manage templates should always be added as a manager.

Note: A manager can also access any plan as if they are the owner user of that plan.

Owner role

The owner is the principal owner of the team and has full access.

We have a separate article to explain how to manage a user's role.
